A new apartment complex with over 300 units is planned for the St. Augustine area, and more than $37 million in building permits were approved on Monday.
The project will be built on about 32 acres located at the southeast corner of State Road 16 and Four Mile Road. Gatlin Development, which has already developed other apartment communities in St. Johns County, purchased the property in January for $8.5 million.
Six permits were issued for the construction of three apartment buildings and three parking garages. One of the buildings will also house leasing offices and amenities.
The estimated values for the residential buildings are roughly $14.6 million for the first, and $11.32 million each for the second and third. Two of the parking garages are valued at $99,081, and the third at $108,945.
All permits were issued to Summit Contracting, a multifamily builder based in Jacksonville.
The construction will take place at 105, 130, 175, 64, 66, and 207 Shields Court.
Gatlin Development has previously built the 588-unit Grand Cypress Apartments and the 256-unit Palacio Apartments in St. Johns County.
