A fresh wave of townhome development may be headed to Jacksonville’s Southbank.
On August 14, the Downtown Development Review Board will review a conceptual proposal for Trailview, a planned community of 53 townhomes situated along the Southbank.
The project site, just off Broadcast Place on Reed Avenue beside JEA-owned property, spans about 3.95 acres. Developed by Ryan Homes, Trailview will feature 11 buildings: five with four units each, three with five units, and three with six units.
Designed with pedestrians and cyclists in mind, the streets will have garages tucked behind the homes, accessed via rear alleys. Renderings also depict a shared courtyard for residents.
Plans from NVR, Inc. (Ryan Homes’ parent company) and Envision Design and Engineering show green space throughout the community, plus a boardwalk that will link to a 1,500-square-foot stretch running through RiversEdge. ELM is handling the landscape architecture and urban design.
Trailview enters review as more than 800 other townhomes across the county work through various approval stages, reflecting the growing popularity of this housing style. Should the DDRB give the green light, the proposal will move on to the Downtown Investment Authority for consideration.
