Thanks to Beaches Habitat for Humanity new Atlantic Beach townhomes are on the horizon.
Beaches Habitat for Humanity
If you aren’t familiar with Beaches Habitat for Humanity, here is a quick blurb taken from their website:
“Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit housing organization working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and approximately 70 countries. Beaches Habitat for Humanity is your local Habitat, serving Eastern Duval County including the three Jacksonville Beaches communities. Families and individuals in your community partner with Beaches Habitat to build or improve a place they can call home. Beaches Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.”
Atlantic Beach Townhome Development
The 44 Atlantic Beach townhome units will be built within 11 buildings on Mayport Road. Additionally, Kennedy Civil services is the engineer for the project. “Beaches Habitat purchased seven parcels of land for the project, totaling $2.2 million between 2018 and 2023.” According to a Jacksonville Business Journal article.
Furthermore, in a News4Jax segment on the townhomes, the home affordability in Atlantic Beach was discussed. The segment reported that the “average cost for rent is around $1,600,” in Atlantic Beach. That is almost a $600 dollar increase since 2021.
Certainly, the beaches are a desirable place to live, and people are willing to pay for the pleasure. Beaches Habitat for Humanity is now providing a less orthodox way for individuals and families to enjoy the Atlantic Beach lifestyle, but without the full financial weight on their shoulders.
